Senator Manny Pacquiao Speaks Against China Occupation Of West PH Sea
PACQUIAO SPEAKS AGAINST CHINA – Senator Manny Pacquiao said China should “disperse” the vessels still encroaching at the Julian Felipe Reef.
Recently, several armed Chinese vessels were seen creeping in Philippine waters. As such, Pacquiao spoke against the entry of the vessels in the Philippines’ territory.
On Thursday, the Senator said:
“As a friend and neighbor, I appeal to the Chinese leadership to stop this creeping occupation and use your authority to disperse these Chinese fishermen around our San Felipe reef“
Furthermore, Pacquiao added that dispersing the Chinese vessels on the reef would show “goodwill”. Additionally, he said that this would serve as a confirmation that the action was not sanctioned by the Chinese government.
“Instead of expanding and occupying disputed territories, China should sustain building its goodwill and friendship towards its neighboring nations so that our whole region can look up to it as one of the world’s respectable global powers“
Previously, the Chinese vessels responded to the Philippines’ claims of encroachment saying they are only seeking refuge in the reef due to bad weather. However, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said he was “no fool” to believe their explanation.
