2 Men Arrested After Caught Producing Fake COVID-19 Swab Test Results in Manila
Two (2) Manila men arrested by authorities after they were caught producing fake coronavirus disease (COVID-19) swab test results.
In a report of GMA News, the two men were arrested for allegedly selling fake RT-PCR or swab test results in Manila. According to the authorities, the fake tests results were being sold for P500 to P1,000.
Police Major Jhun Ibay, chief of Manila police’s Special Mayor’s Reaction Team said that they will also look for their accomplice who was involved in the said fake test results scam. They are still validating their information, he added.
“Mayroong mga personality at hanggang ngayon vina validate ang kanilang kasabwat,” said Ibay.
Aside from the false COVID-19 test results, authorities are also on the lookout for fake COVID-19 vaccines. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier warned the public not to patronize COVID-19 vaccines being sold online.
On Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte threatened those involved in the trade of counterfeit vaccines. The vaccines should be received by the public in the Department of Health (DOH) authorized vaccination sites to assure that the vaccines received are genuine.
