Roque Confident On NCR Plus Dropping Cases By At Leat 25% In Metro

ROQUE CONFIDENT ON NCR PLUS – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the new “NCR Plus” quarantine restriction could drop cases by 25%.

Recently, the government imposed the latest addition to its line of quarantines – NCR Plus. With this, Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal are now under stricter health protocols.

The term “NCR Plus” bubble referred to the five provinces being placed under a general community quarantine from March 22 to April 4. During an interview with ANC’s Headstart, Roque stated:

We’re estimating that with these measures and at the end of the 2-week period, that the numbers would drop by at least 25%, but we’re hoping for more

However, Roque emphasized that the most effective way to reduce the spread of COVID-19 is for the public to stay at home. As per the interview he said:

We all know that the tried and tested formula for preventing the further increase in cases of COVID is to stay home“.

With the new NCR Plus, mass gatherings, including religious activities are prohibited. Meanwhile, weddings, baptisms, and funeral services were capped at 10 people per event.

Additionally, workplaces were asked to maintain their on-site capacity to 30-50% of their workforce. Similarly, government offices were asked to follow suit. Furthermore, restaurants were limited to al fresco dining with provisions and takeouts.

The new guidelines were created as the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines reached an all-time-high.
