Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado Speaks on Tally of COVID-19 Cases in the City in Just 2 Weeks
BACOOR MAYOR LANI MERCADO – Actress-turned-politician Lani Mercado spoke on the increasing cases of COVID-19 in her city in Cavite.
The fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines continues. There are still threats of coronavirus disease thus community quarantine measures are still up in the Philippines.
PH is one of the over 200 countries and territories that recorded cases of COVID-19. Many lives were lost due to the said disease and the people’s way of living is greatly affected.
Many businesses closed as they were not able to withstand the demands of the pandemic – long lockdowns, no income, and a lot more. A lot of Filipinos lost their jobs amid the crisis in the country.
Currently, schools are delivering the lessons to the students through blended learning. Teachers use modules or teach the students through online classes as face-to-face classroom discussions are prohibited.
Furthermore, everyone must wear a face mask and practice physical distancing when going outdoors. These are key efforts in the pursuit to stop the spread of the disease. Sadly, amid the fight, new variants of the coronavirus disease were detected.

There are also notable increase of COVID-19 cases in certain areas. One of these is Bacoor City in the province of Cavite. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, 494 cases were recorded in just half a month.

According to Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado, the said number of cases was logged between March 1 and March 16. She also cited that the average active infections recorded daily is 32.
Based on the report, Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado said that many people in the city works in Metro Manila and they become carriers of the virus in the city. She also stressed that there is a rapid contamination in the family.
“Kaya dapat on the onset of symptoms nire-report po kaagad. Napakahirap po mag-isolate dahil punuan po,” Mercado expressed.
Starting Monday, Metro Manila is implementing a 2-week curfew in the pursuit to arrest the spread of COVID-19. Vaccinations of healthcare workers have also rolled out.
