Man Arrested Over Robbery At Mini-Mart In Las Piñas City

LAS PIÑAS – A man was recently arrested an hour after he robbed a mini-mart in Brgy. Pilar Village, Las Piñas City on Tuesday night.

A CCTV footage from the said mini-mar led to the discovery and arrest of of the thief under the alias ‘Julio’, 20 years of age, according to ABS-CBN News.

Julio was seen entering the mart to see the contents of the money box before the clock strikes 7 PM when the store closes. The box was open and was located near the door.

The thief proceeded to steal its contents in a matter of seconds while the store staff entered her room and had dinner.

Police Maj. Romeo Britanico, commander of Pilar substation said that she heard someone entering the store but was afraid that the suspect has his cohorts.

Britanico, Julio recently paid his bail over a robbery case for stealing a mountain bike, which made him arrested last month.

Police Cpl. Reyglenn Lunzaga was able to identify the suspect in the CCTV footage as he was handling Julio’s previous case.

The police were able to catch the suspect in his residence in Brgy. Almanza 2. Retrieved from the suspect were the contents of the case, with about P3,500 worth of cash. Julio said that he spent P500 to buy food.

He said in his defense that he did it to help his father pay the P10,000 bail he borrowed.

He was supposed to work as a construction worker on Monday to earn the said money.

Based on the report, he asked the store owner and policemen not to have him imprisoned and give him another chance. However, he will face charges for theft.
