DSWD Warns 4Ps Beneficiaries Engaged in Illegal Activities Using Cash Aid

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) warns 4Ps beneficiaries involved in illegal activities using cash assistance.

The DSWD has warned that they will suspend the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who are found to be using the received cash subsidy on illegal activities.

DSWD 4Ps Beneficiaries

This move is based on the provisions of Memorandum Circular 38 or the Guidelines on the Commission of Prohibited Acts by Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Beneficiaries during State of Calamity or National Emergency.

The DSWD recently issued a memorandum that will implement a stricter policy on reprimanded beneficiaries. This follows the information gathered that some beneficiaries are involved in illegal activities after receiving the emergency cash subsidy under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

A 4Ps beneficiary will automatically be suspended from the program if the money is found to be used in an activity that is prohibited by the program such as gambling, drinking, and other vices.

The DSWD clarified that the policy aims to encourage 4Ps beneficiaries to be responsible and wise in using the cash subsidy provided to them. Many beneficiaries were arrested since the start of distributing cash aid to people who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
