African Migrants Arrested After Hiding Garbage to Cross Border Going Europe
Spanish police arrested African migrants who hide under the dangerous garbage in attempt to cross the border going to Europe.
Spanish Police – the Guardia Civil – have rescued several African migrants from the Melilla enclave, Spanish territory in the North African country of Morocco, hiding under dangerous garbage inside a garbage truck, according to the report of GMA News.
The Guardia Civil said up to 41 African migrants were rescued at the port of the Melilla enclave which was targeted for smuggling into the Spanish mainland. Among the rescued migrants was a man who hid under toxic ashes.
The Guardia Civil initially thought it was lifeless, but when it was released from the ash tree, the man regained consciousness. Guardia Civil spokesperson said he was almost dead and frightened after seeing an officer.
“The man’s life was saved. He was almost dead. He doesn’t even know where he is, he is frightened when he sees the officer’s kni
fe and the officer has to reassure him and tell him that he is here to help him,” spokesperson said.
Others are hidden under thousands of broken bottles. If they are not discovered by the authorities, migrants will travel seven hours to the Spanish Mainland where recycled waste will be recycled.
African migrants come to Europe for many reasons. Men migrate there in order to find a good life, while women often leave their homeland to escape violence.
