Lady Netizen Expressed Dismay Due to Huge Amount She Spent Just to Acquire Driver’s License
A lady netizen has shared her experiences and expenses to acquire a driver’s license under the new LTO system.
A Facebook user named Jona Jane Figueroa Jumawan has shared her experience and expenses just to get a driver’s license. The post immediately goes viral online and garnered various reactions from the social media users.
In the post, Jona applied for a student permit last January 2021 under the new system of the Land Transportation Office. She needs to comply several requirements and to pay fees to get a student permit.

Requirements for Student Permit:
1. Birth Certificate /original and photocopy and Marriage Certificate for Married Female
2. Valid Government ID / photocopy
3. Medical Certificate / accredited by LTO – P450
4. Accomplished application form
5. Theoretical Driving Course Certificate (TDC)/ accredited by LTO – P1, 800
6. Student Permit – P317.63
Total = P2, 567

After a month, the lady netizen applied for a Non-Professional driver’s license and had to submit the necessary requirements:
Requirements for Non-Professional:
1. Student Permit (at least 1 month old)
2. Medical Certificate – P450
3. Accomplished application form
4. Practical Driving Course Certificate (PDC) – P5, 500
5. Exam Fee – P168
6. License Fee – P652
7. Car – P400
Total = P6,720
The woman spent a total amount of P9, 287 to obtain a driver’s license, which is quite expensive for most Filipino drivers.
