PAGASA – Auring Intensifies Into Tropical Storm (February 18, 2021)
PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA recently said that Tropical Depression “Auring” has intensified into a tropical storm.

The Severe Weather Bulletin issued at 11 AM February 18 from the bureau says that it is moving slowly northwestward over the Philippine Sea.
As of 10 AM, Auring’s center was last spotted at about 685 km East Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
It is packed with Maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h. It is expected to become a severe tropical storm prior to landfall over Caraga on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
Auring is less likely to bring heavy rains today, but will more likely to bring heavy rainfall affecting Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Bicol Region, CALABARZON, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Northern Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands over the weekend until Monday.
Residents in said areas, as well as all disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take appropriate preparatory measures.
Until now, no locality is currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) #1 but it is expected to be raised over several provinces of Caraga and Davao Region as early as tomorrow, based on the website.
The seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will face rough to very rough seas in the next 24 hours due to the surge of the Northeast Monsoon and Auring. Sea travel is risky over these areas, especially for those with smaller sea vessels.
