GOV’T TO COMPENSATE ADVERSE REACTIONS – Inoculated individuals with adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines will get compensation from the government, said the Department of Health.
The Philippines is about to receive its first doses of the new coronavirus vaccines. However, a large portion of the general public has allayed fears regarding its safety.
Recently, news of patients getting adverse reactions to the vaccines have gone viral. But, this is perfectly normal according to medical experts.
As such, the DOH said that the government would be the one to compensate and give assistance to those that develop averse reactions after inoculation. According to an article from GMA, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said:
All of the manufacturers want an indemnification agreement. Wala po dapat daw mag-charge ng any case against them dahil ang products are still under development…
it will be the government… Kung halimbawa, ang isang tao ay magkakaroon ng reaksyon, kung sakaling mao-ospital, ito po ay sasagutin ng gobyerno through PhilHealth,
On January, two bills which sought the establishment of the indemnity fund or vaccine-related injuries was filed in the Senate. Furthermore, the COVAX facility requires governments to file an indemnity agreement.
