Motorcycle Rider Crashed After His Tire Fell on the Gap from Drainage Cover
CCTV footage caught a motorcycle rider who suddenly crashed after his motorcycle tire fell on the gap from the drainage cover.
In the video of GMA News Feed, it can be seen that the rider seemed to be circling in Brgy. 173 Gagalangin Tondo, Manila. Little did he know, there was a gap on the drainage cover.
He suddenly crashed and sank after the tire of his motorcycle slipped through a drainage hole. He was nearly run by his own motorbike after he was hit by another rider.
Fortunately, the riders who followed him were able to brake immediately. The accident-ridden rider seemed to faint for a moment when eyewitnesses tried to lift him up.
The man also stood for a while and parked his motorcycle. The rider report what happened to him in the barangay hall.
According to Barangay 173 Chairman Rogelio Fernandez, the drainage project is not yet finished so they just cover it with metal plates. Their mistake was that they immediately removed the most barrier.
He scolded that they should not have removed it first because many vehicles are passing. “Ang pagkakamali nila ay tinanggal nila kaagad ‘yung pinaka-barrier. Dapat hindi muna nila tinanggal kasi habang dumadaan ‘yung sasakyan.”
“yun bang cover ng kanal nagdidikit-dikit kaya nagkaroon ng puwang. Du’n nadisgrasya ang ating motorista,” Fernandez added.
As a result, the captain summoned the supervisor of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and called the contractor. The contractor and MMDA responded to the rider’s treatment and repair of his motorcycle. The drainage barrier was also restored.
