Here’s Gloc-9’s reaction to the controversial song of Ez Mil
Rapper Ez Mil suddenly rose to fame due to the viral song that he performed on Wish Bus US but it came with controversy and here is what Gloc-9 said about this.
Performing the song ‘Panalo’ on the first-ever mobile radio booth of Wish 107.5, the rapper from Olongapo showed that he is proud of his roots. Netizens and music enthusiasts, especially those who love this genre, fell in love with his performance.
However, the sudden success of the young rapper also has a side controversy. It is because of a portion of the song with these lyrics: “Nanalo na ako nung mula pa na/ Pinugutan si Lapu sa Mactan/ At lahat ang nasaktan na/ Nalaman nila na pinatay/ Ang kanilang bayani/ Sa karagatan ng bansa/ Na pag-aari ng Pilipino…”
This sounded like that Lapu-Lapu was the one who was killed in the battle of Mactan while it was the conqueror Ferdinand Magellan.
Because of this, Ez Mil received criticism as people said that he is bending the history of the Philippines. Following the negative comments, the young rapper apologized.
A recent report stated that Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan is endorsing a recommendation to declare the rapper as ‘Persona Non-Grata‘.
In a recent interview, award-winning rapper and songwriter Gloc-9 was asked to react to the controversial song lyrics, based on the article in PEP.
“Tingin ko, sa panahon na lagi nating kinukuwestiyon ang facts at kasaysayan para sa interes ng makapangyarihan, mas mahalaga ngayong nagiging maingat tayo sa paggamit nito sa ating mga kanta. Ayaw kasi nating makadagdag sa disinformation,” he said.
On the other hand, Gloc-9 said that he appreciates that Ez Mil apologized and accepted his mistake because it is not something that is easy to do.
“Sana hindi siya tumigil sa paggawa ng kanta dahil lang rito. Bata pa naman siya at marami pa siyang pagkakataon para ipakita ang mga likha niya,” Gloc-9 added.
