Another Antipolo Mall Shut Down After Breaking COVID-19 Protocols
ANTIPOLO MALL SHUT DOWN – Another mall in Antipolo City was forced to close after it continued to violate coronavirus protocols.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several health protocols were imposed to prevent another outbreak. However, a large percent of the population only follow these protocols half-heartedly. Furthermore, most people only follow the rules when there’s an authority figure.
Unfortunately, this is also echoed inside malls. But, unlike the open air, malls are more susceptible to COVID-19 transmissions due to their closed environment. As such, iMall in Barangay San Roque was ordered to close on February 8. This follows the closure of Victory Park and Shop on February 4.

As of February 9, iMall is still shut down. Meanwhile, Victory Park and Shop already reopened on February 7 after submitting its health protocol measures to the local government.
According to an article from Manila Bulletin, the city government spokesperson Casimiro Ynares III warned establishments and residents alike that penalties shall strictly be imposed if health protocols are violated.
“We expect everyone to continue to respect and adhere to the protocols set by the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) and the city governmen“, he said.
Currently, the Philippines has reported over 500,000 cases of COVID-19. Meanwhile, in Antipolo City, 4,397 cases have been documented. Of that number, 108 are considered as active cases.
