Wanted Ex-Cop Arrested In La Carlota City, Negros Occidental

LA CARLOTA CITY – A former cop who is among the included in the most wanted list was arrested in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental

The Philippine National Police arrested the ex-cop, identified as Anecio Lapara Jr., in a joint operation conducted by several police units and offices of various regions along Lapaz Street in Barangay 1 Poblacion, according to a report from GMA News.

Lapara is currently facing separate criminal cases for robbery and illegal possession of firearms. The ex-cop escaped from the the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Ormoc City while he was awaiting his trial.

He is also among the included in the National Most Wanted Person with Reward list, the PNP added.

The ex-cop was a member of the Philippine Constabulary Class ’88 and served the PNP in 1991. Lapara was separated from the service in 1999 and was ruored to be leading a criminal gang operating in Central and Eastern Visayas (Region VII and Region VIII). the PNP added, based on the report.

“The PNP remains determined to put behind bars all police scalawags as part of our relentless internal cleansing program”

This came from a statement from PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas.
