Datu Montawal, Maguindanao Yields 12 High-Powered Guns To Army
DATU MONTAWAL – The local government of Datu Montawal, Maguindanao yielded over a dozen high-powered firearms to the 602nd Infantry Brigade .
The said activity occurred on Thursday, February 4, 2021, according to a report from Manila Bulletin.
Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command, said in a statement that the firearms were yielded by residents of the town to the municipal government.
“The firearms include nine Garand rifles, one muzzle caliber .30, one 7.62 sniper rifle, and one Carbine rifle,”
The activity was conducted by town mayor Ohto Montawal at the Session Hall of the municipal hall. The 90th Infantry Battalion facilitated the said turnover.
Commanding officer of the 90th Infantry Battalion Lt. Col. Rommel Mundala said that the activity followed after a series of dialogues and negotiations with the barangay and municipal government officials of the municipality.
Based on the report, the high-powered firearms are now under the custody of the 90th IB headquarters for proper disposition. A total of 15 firearms in Central Mindanao have been turned over to the military ever since the beginning of the new year 2021.
