Davao City Jail Found P2M Illegal Drugs on Brooms Donated by ‘Religious Group’

Police found P2 million worth of illegal drugs in the brooms allegedly donated by a ‘religious group’ in Davao City jail.

In a report of ABS-CBN News, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel in Davao City has discovered packages of suspected shabu placed in broom donations for the Davao City Jail male dormitory.

It was found out that on December 19 the broom donations were received from a religious group. BJMP said it was only hidden in the stockroom for a long time and illegal drugs were discovered during the final inspection before the brooms were handed over to the inmates.

BJMP personnel has recovered 26 packages of illegal drugs called ‘shabu’ or crystal meth. It is estimated that up to P2.08 million worth of illegal drugs they seized.

Based on the report, the alleged religious group are scheduled to be charged by the police. The contraband has been turned over to the Philippine National Police crime laboratory.

On Christmas Eve, P1.8 million worth of shabu was also placed in packages of noodles. It was also donated by the alleged members of the religious organization.
