Honest DPWH Employee Received Reward After Returning Bag Containing P360k
An honest employee of Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) received a gift after he return the lost bag that contains P360,000.
Recently, Bernardo Dela Cruz, an employee of DPWH Caraga, has spotted a bag when he was on his way home. When he opened the bag, he was shocked as he sees the huge amount inside.
According to the post on DPWH Caraga Facebook page, the lost bag contains P360,000. Bernardo tried to look for an identification card to contact the owner, however, he didn’t find anything.
He decided to inform DPWH Administrative Division Chief Atty. Joel Gingane. There, they found out that the owner of the bag was the supervisor-cashier of San Isidro Upland Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Jean Hinayon.

He said he did not realize that the bag fell so he prayed that someone with a good heart would get it. His wish has come true as Bernardo did not hesitate to return the money to its owner.
Due to his honesty of the survey aide, Bernardo received his colleagues contributed to give him a motorcycle. Bernardo also received a plaque of recognition. Apart from this, Bernardo will be given priority in case he has a vacant permanent position.
“Very proud kami sa kaniya… Binigyan namin siya ng isang brand new motorcycle dahil sa pag-ambag-ambagan ng mga tao rito para magamit niya sa hanapbuhay,” said DPWH Caraga regional director Pol Delos Santos.
“It was truly an honor to present Bernardo Dela Cruz this plaque. His honesty and action are beyond expectation especially in this time of pandemic, and worthy of commendation,” Delos Santos added.
