Galvez Expects 1M COVID-19 Vaccine Doses To Rollout This February
COVID-19 VACCINE ROLLOUT – According to the Philippines’ vaccine czar, over 1 million vaccine doses will be ready to distribute by February.
Close to a year after the first coronavirus outbreak in the Philippines, a vaccine would finally become available. Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said:
Magkakaroon po tayo ng early rollout this February, more or less…more than 1 million doses
Currently, several areas across the Philippines has been tagged as “Vaccination Hubs”. Among these places was the Lakshore Complex in Taguig.
Earlier in the year, Galvez emphasized that China’s Sinovac vaccine would be prioritized. Furthermore, Galvez also stated that vaccinations may start in the end of the first quarter and it will continue until the 60-70% of the population is reached.
Additionally, the Department of Health set a goal for herd immunity and also listed its priority for vaccination:
- the healthcare workers
- the senior citizens
- the sick
- the poor
- the uniformed personnel
Meanwhile, 2 COVID-19 vaccines may still be available come February according to the DOH. However, the Health Department failed to disclose further information regarding the vaccines.
