Top Universities Conduct NPA Recruitment Says NTF-ELCAC
TOP UNIVERSITIES CONDUCT NPA RECRUITMENT? – According to a military official, the top universities in the Philippines are amongst the 18 schools where the NPA conducts recruitment.
Following the severed DND-UP accord, the military has continued to push its presence. As such, Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. claimed at least 18 colleges and universities mostly found in the NCR have communist recruitment activities.
Parlade, the spokesperson for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), listed the following top schools as hotbeds for recruitment:
- University of the Philippines (UP)
- The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Far Eastern University (FEU), Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU)
- University of Santo Tomas (UST)
- Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM)
- De La Salle University (DLSU)
- University of Makati
According to an article from GMA, Parlade expressed that due to the DND-UP accord, the military faced hardships in confirming these recruitments. But, because the 30-year-old accord was severed, Parlade said:
“Mas mapag-aaralan ang nangyayaring recruitment ng CPP-NPA sa UP matapos maibasura ang UP-DND Accord”.
