Police Helped Honest Farmer to Pay All Debts After Returning P133k
HONEST FARMER- Benguet police helped the farmer to be free from all debts in return for surrendering the P133k her found.
Last Christmas, an honest farmer who returned the sling bag he found with just over P133,000 inside went viral on social media. A farmer from Tublay, Benguet, Mando Baliwas Alonzo, 53, did not expect that there would be a big surprise in return for his goodness.
PRO-COR Brigadier General R’win Clarity found out that Alonzo still owes P37,740 to the Benguet General Hospital for his wife’s surgery on a gall bladder in June 2020. Alonzo has already poured all his resources, savings, health insurance, and donations but it is still lacking.
He just signed a promissory note to get his wife out. Impressed by his generosity in spite of his poverty, the general voluntarily paid off Alonzo’s debt from his own salary.
On January 4, Tublay municipal police station personnel picked up Alonzo at their home in Barangay Ba-ayan to accompany him to pay for the hospital. Despite the hardships of the honest farmer, he returned the valuable thing he found.
The farmer is very grateful for the help because they allegedly do not have the ability to pay now due to the pandemic. Alonzo used to be a jeepney driver on the Baguio-Pico route but when ECQ imposed, his operations were stopped.
They now live off the sale of planted sayote. According to him, it only did the right thing because these crises the country is facing right now is not a reason to be an evildoer.
