PEGASUS CONSTELLATION – In this topic, we are going to know and learn about the northern constellation Pegasus , the Winged Horse.

It is one of the largest constellations in the northern sky and is named after the winged horse in Greek mythology.

Pegasus is a white winged horse which sprang from the neck of the Gorgon Medusa when the Greek hero Perseus beheaded her.

The term Pegasus is derived from the Greek term pegai which means “springs” or “waters,” 

It is known for the asterism the Great Square of Pegasus, as well as housing Cumulo de Pegaso, Stephan’s Quintet of galaxies, the Einstein Cross, and NGC 7742.

It is the seventh largest constellation in the night sky and occupies an area of about 1121 square degrees. It lies in NQ4, the fourth quadrant of the northern hemisphere. 

The constellation belongs to the Perseus family, along with Andromeda, Auriga, Cassiopeia, Cepheus, Cetus, Lacerta, Perseus, and Triangulum.
