Former US President Barack Obama Responds To Violence In Capitol In Official Statement

BARACK OBAMA – Former President of the United States Barack Obama responds to the violence that occurred earlier inside Capitol grounds.

As lawmakers were set to certify president-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the November 2020 elections, hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol. Law enforcement and security were overwhelmed as the rioters breached Capitol grounds and enter the debate chambers.

Because of this recent attack, President Barack Obama released an official statement:

History will rightly remember today’s violence at the Capitol, incited by a sitting president who has continued to baselessly lie about the outcome of a lawful election, as a moment of great dishonor and shame for our nation.

Furthermore, the former president said that Republican leaders may choose to continue stroking raging fires or choose reality and “take the first steps toward extinguishing the flames”.

“I’ve been heartened to see many members of the President’s party speak up forcefully today. Their voices add to the examples of Republican State and local election officials in states like Georgia who refused to be intimidated and have discharged their duties honorably”
