Panelo Gives Response To Dacera Case Controversy
PANELO ON DACERA CASE – Salvador Panelo gave his response regarding the death of 23-year-old flight attendant Christine Dacera.
Since the case went viral, the Philippine National Police (PNP) was quick to call the case “solved” and tagged 11 suspects in the case. Furthermore, the PNP claimed there Dacera was sexually abused, however, autopsy reports said she died due to an aneurysm.
However, during a press conference, Sinas stated that the PNP was sure of their initial findings. Additionally, he mentioned having more evidence but said they couldn’t disclose any further information yet.
Following this, according to an article from Manila Bulletin, Panelo urged concerned parties to reserve judgment until investigations are done. “Speculations are freely aired that may not jibe with what the real cause of death“, he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the best thing to do was wait for the final result of a thorough investigation. As per the report, Panelo added:
Should there be evidence that a crime was committed, then this administration assures that the offenders thereof, regardless of who they are, will be dealt with in accordance with law that justice may be served
The death of Dacera was shrouded in controversy due to the PNP quickly tagging the case as “solved”. Meanwhile, some of the suspects in the case have spoken out and said they never left Dacera and that they were members of the LGBT community.
Moreover, they emphasized that they never had any malicious intent toward Dacera. Meanwhile, Makati City police chief Col. Harold Depositar said, “Only three of them were Dacera’s friends. The others were practically strangers to her, as they were only known to her three friends.”
