P500K Illegal Drugs Retrieved From Suspect In Rosario, La Union
LA UNION – A drug dealer was recently arrested in Barangay Udiao, Rosario, La Union, and yielded illegal drugs which is worth at about P500K.
According to a report from Manila Bulletin, the arrested drug suspect was identified as Chuck Sawadan Araos, aged 37, and a resident of Barangay Agat, Sison, Pangasinan.
Rosario Police Chief Maj. Garry Casem reported that they set up a checkpoint in Barangay Udiao after they received a tip about the suspicious behavior of a suspect riding a blue motorcycle that has no license plate. The suspect was said to be from Agoo town.
Araos was spotted nearing the checkpoint when he attempted to flee away and stopped at a motorcyclists’ stall.
Policemen gave chase and cornered the suspect after he ran into an oncoming tricycle.
Seized from the suspect were sachets of suspected illegal drugs, which weigh 80 grams, with an estimated value of P544,000, as well as other drug paraphernalia.
Araos was a known drug dealer and was among the included in the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) watchlist. He was also arrested before for alleged illegal drugs activities.
He is now facing charges for violating Sections 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Based on the report, police are currently conducting further investigation to determine the suspect’s accomplices.
