Drinkers in Manila Who Held Drinking Session in the Street Arrested
Several drinkers in Manila City who were found having a drinking session outside of their houses and sidewalks were arrested by the police.
As the new year approaches, drinkers were caught having drinking sessions outside of their houses. Some people still drink in public places in Manila even though it is prohibited due to the threat of COVID-19.
According to the report of ABS-CBN News, a preliminary report from the Manila Police District shows, police in the Dagonoy Police Community Precinct patrolled several roads in Sta. Ana this Friday for the anti-criminality operation.
When passing Onyx Street, police found a group of men drinking on the sidewalk. Police immediately approached the group and arrested the six men.

Drinking alcohol is prohibited in public places in Manila. Apart from that, physical distancing was also not followed and some of those arrested were senior citizens.
Elsewhere in San Andres Bukid, two men were also caught drinking on the side of the road. Three men were also caught smoking in public places which are also illegal based on city ordinances.
Police reminded that even on New Year’s Day, the ordinances prohibiting drinking and smoking in public places are still enforced. Occasion nor personal celebration is not a valid reason to hold a gathering that violates the quarantine protocol.
