Filipino Shoppers Flock to Divisoria to Buy Round-Shaped Fruits for New Year’s Media Noche
A lot of Filipino shoppers have flocked to Divisoria to purchase round-shaped fruits and other food products for New Year’s Media Noche.
On Thursday (December 31, 2020), the number of shoppers flocking to supermarkets, wet markets, and grocery stores continue to increase as New Year’s Eve approaches. Most of them are purchasing foods for Media Noche.
Many Filipino people have flocked Divisoria to purchase round-shaped fruits for New Year’s Eve. Most of our countrymen believe that round-shaped fruits would bring luck, wealth, and prosperity next year.
However, the prices of some fruits are not budget-friendly but most of them are affordable. Here are the prices of available fruits in the market:
- Orange – P25 per piece
- Ponkan – P10 per piece
- Kiat-kiat – P50 per pack
- Red Apple – P10-P25 per piece
- Green Apple – P30 per piece
- Fuji Apple – P50 per 10 pieces
- Lemon – P10 per piece
- Persimmon – P50 per 3 pieces
- Dalandan – P25 per piece
- Pineapple – P25 per piece
- Kiwi – P25 per piece
- Pears – P25 per piece
- Pomelo – P70 per piece
- Grapes – P130 per kilo
- Seedless Grapes – P200-P300 per kilo
Most consumers want to complete the 12 fruits on their table for Media Noche hoping that it would bring them good fortune and good health for 2021. They are also hoping to get rid of bad experiences from 2020.
Meanwhile, the police authorities and the barangay officials are struggling to implement the health protocols in the area due to the massive numbers of shoppers violating the physical distancing measures. The authorities just ordered the shoppers to wear their face masks and face shields.
