Quezon Province Jolted By 4.9 Magnitude Earthquake

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.9 magnitude quake in Quezon province and nearby areas, December 22, 2020.

According to Phivolcs, the quake happened at around 2:14 a.m. Furthermore, the earthquake was said to have originated from 20 km northwest of General Nakar with a depth of 15 km.

Aside from those in Quezon, those in Metro Manila and Rizal also felt the early-morning jolt. Meanwhile, according to Phivolcs officer-in-charge Renato Solidum, aftershocks are possible.

Posible naman, itong lugar na pinanggalingan ng lindol ay isang aktibong fault“, he said.

  • Intensity IV – Navotas City
  • Intensity III – Dolores, Quezon; Plaridel, Malolos City and Calumpit, Bulacan; Guagua, Pampanga; Marikina City; Quezon City; Pasig City; Mandaluyong City
  • Malabon City, San Juan City
  • Intensity II – Palayan City, Nueva Ecija; Baler, Aurora; Gumaca, Quezon; Tagaytay City, Cavite; Las Piñas City; San Ildefonso, Bulacan
  • Intensity I – Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; Muntinlupa City; Guinayangan, Lucena City and Lucban, Quezon; Daet, Camarines Norte; Carmona and Bacoor City, Cavite
