Police Abusing Yantok To Get Punished, Penalized Says Lt. Gen. Binag
POLICE ABUSING YANTOK TO GET PUNISHED – Recently, the government authorized the use of rattan sticks or yantok as a means of enforcing physical distancing and other health protocols.
However, some lawmakers and the Commission of Human Rights immediately raised concerns about its potential abuse. Additionally, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin tweeted:
“This is the only ‘yantok’ we will accept and only from someone in her uniform. Anyone else in any other uniform can go (censored) a duck”.
Meanwhile, Joint Task Force COVID Shield commander Police Lieutenant General Cesar Hawthorne Binag asserted that police abusing the use of yantok will be penalized.
According to an article from GMA, the JTF Chief said:
But, PNP Chief Debold Siñas recently clarified that the yantok sticks may be used to subdue individuals violating health protocols who are resisting arrest. Binag stated that those assisting arrested could receive a slap on the hand using a yantok.
