Angkas, Joyride Gets Certificate of Compliance Allowing Them to Operate Again
Motorcycle taxi firms Angkas and Joyride received their certificates of compliance, allowing them to operate beyond Dec. 9.
The Motorcycle Taxi Technical Working Group (MC Taxi TWG), a group that is tasked to oversee the pilot run of motorcycle taxis release a statement Monday, saying the two firms were fully compliant with the guidelines set by TWG and the Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19 response.

According to the Facebook post of Land Transportation Office-Philippines, both firms can now go back to operations even after December 9, which their provisional authority to operate and their pilot run is only valid.

On Nov. 24, the TWG granted Angkas a provisional authority until Dec. 9. Angkas, however, still need to comply with operational requirements given by the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19.
The requirements given are “the provision of insurance for both rider and passenger in case of an accident and the mandatory use of thermal scanners to accurately detect if the passenger has a fever.
Earlier this year, operation of motorcycle taxi firms in the Philippines has been halted due to the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). National government has seen the threat of virus infection on backriders.
