The online community has been talking about the coming out of Umbrella Academy star Ellen Page as transgender Elliot Page.
Elliot, prior to his new identity, has done several unforgettable roles on TV and on the big screen. She was known for her role in the movie Juno. She also worked with Leonardo Di Caprio in the movie Inception.
Just recently, Elliot reintroduced himself to the public with this statement on his social media accounts. He said that he feels lucky to arrive at this place in his life.
The actor also expressed appreciation to those who showed support for him as he takes this journey. He also noted that ecstatic feeling that he feels to finally pursue his “authentic self”.
On the other hand, the Umbrella Academy star, behind the joy that he feels for coming out, is also saddened by the fact that cases of discriminations against transgender people is rampant.
Elliot also called out to those in power who have ignored this matter and he stressed that he is one of the people who will not be silent amid attacks.
“I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer,” he said. The actor also expressed empathy to trans people who have been struggling.
“To all trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can do to change this world for the better,” the Umbrella Academy star said.
Several celebrities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and netizens have showed support for this coming out of Elliot Page.
