It is a constellation in the northern sky. The name is the Latin term for ‘The Triangle’.

It is one of the Greek constellation. Its three brightest stars form the shape of a long, narrow triangle.

It is the 78th constellation in size which occupies an area of 132 square degrees. It can be found in NQ1, the first quadrant in the northern hemisphere.

The triangle belongs to the Perseus family of constellations, along with Andromeda, Auriga, Cassiopeia, Cepheus, Cetus, Lacerta, Pegasus and Perseus.

The constellation has one star with a confirmed planet and contains one Messier object, which is Messier 33.

The constellation was known by the Greeks as Deltoton, which is named for its shape resembled the Greek letter Delta (Δ). According to Eratosthenes, it represented by the delta of the river Nile in Egypt.
