Metro Manila Mayors Recommend to Shorten Curfew Hours for Simbang Gabi

Metro Manila Mayors Ask National Government to Shorten Curfew Hours for Simbang Gabi

Metro Manila mayors asked the national government to shorten the curfew hours in the region to give way for the Simbang Gabi.

On Monday (November 30, 2020), the Parañaque mayor Edwin Olivarez said that the council of Metro Manila recommended the extension of the general community quarantine in the region until end of 2020.

The city mayors want to keep the region under GCQ as the numbers of COVID-19 patients start to increase slightly over Metro Manila. OCTA Research group also warned the capital region that it may tally up to 1,000 cases per daily basis if left unchecked.

“Yan ‘yung reason bakit natin nirekomenda ang pagme-maintain ng GCQ, para maibsan ang gatherings at pagluluwag ng negosyo. Pero kailangan magbukas na ng mga negosyo. ‘Yung protocols kailangan ipatupad ng local government units.” Olivarez said.

Olivarez also said that the curfew hours will be adjusted to give way for the traditional Simbang Gabi or dawn masses. The new curfew time would be from 12:00 am until 3:00 am. Simbang Gabi usually starts every December 16.
