Mads Mikkelsen Confirmed As Replacement For Johnny Depp In Fantastic Beasts Series
JOHNNY DEPP REPLACEMENT CONFIRMED – After losing the “wife-beater” libel case, Depp was removed from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Fans from all over the globe may have mixed reactions about the series in general. However, what everybody did agree on was Depp’s stellar performance as Grindelwald, the series’ main antagonist.
Sadly, Depp’s stint as Dumbledore’s rival has finally reached its end as a replacement for Grindelwald had been confirmed. According to an article from Dexerto, Mads Mikkelsen was reportedly going to take the helm as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series.
Warner Bros. announced the confirmation on November 25. But, despite the recasting, the storyline would still kick-off where it ended. Furthermore, Grindelwald’s recasting wouldn’t make much of a difference plotwise. This is because the character has been seen to change appearances from time to time in the series.
Meanwhile, the recasting has forced Warner Bros. to delay the release of the film until July 15, 2022. As per the report, this was likely due to the production team needing to reshoot new scenes with Mikkelsen.
Mikkelsen has played the antagonist to many hit Hollywood films such as Casino Royale and Doctor Strange. Furthermore, he has become one of Denmark’s biggest celebrities.
