Roque Says Ampatuan Victims Had Justice Under Duterte Term

ROQUE ON AMPATUAN VICTIMS – Presidential Spokesperson and former lawyer to Ampatuan victims, Harry Roque, said justice was served under the administration of President Duterte.

During his virtual press briefing, the Spokesperson said justice was already served for the victims of the heartbreaking 2009 Ampatuan massacre. According to him, “at least” the Ampatuan brothers were convicted for the crimes they committed.

During his virtual briefing, Roque said:

Previously, Roque represented 19 of the 58 slain journalists in the 2009 killings. However, the tragedy that occurred 11 years ago was still fresh in the minds of the victims’ families. Along with this, many call the incident the worst attack on journalists in the worst election-related crime in the country’s history.

Furthermore, Roque also assured that suspects who are still at large would be made accountable for their crimes.

Still, the number of suspects involved in the Ampatuan case had more people acquitted than convicted. Currently, 56 suspects were acquitted and 28 were convicted including the masterminds behind the incident, Datu Andal Jr and Zaldy Ampatuan.
