Countries Must Fight Virus Wave Without Aid Of Vaccines

WHO WARNS ABOUT VACCINES – The World Health Organization warned countries that they must fight the virus wave without a vaccine.

According to Dr. Michael Ryan, WHO’s Executive Director, the coronavirus vaccine should not be seen as a “unicorn” magic solution. As countries continue to struggle against the virus, he says they must “climb this mountain” without it.

Based on an article from Manila Bulletin, Ryan said:

I think it’s at least four to six months before we have significant levels of vaccination going on anywhere…

Many countries are going through this wave, and they’re going to go through this wave, and continue through this wave, without vaccines.

However, Pfizer recently announced that their vaccine candidate had a success rate of 95%. Furthermore, the company said they may be able to begin the distribution of their vaccine before Christmas.

Still, Ryan emphasized that people should not be slacking off against the virus following news of the vaccines. As per the article, he stated:

Some people think a vaccine will be, in a sense, the solution: the unicorn we’ve all been chasing. It’s not..

Moreover, Ryan asserted that even with the vaccines distributed, there were still a lot of factors to consider. As such, he said that if we “forget the other thing, COVID does not got to zero”.
