3 Volcanic Earthquakes Recorded in Kanlaon Volcano, According to Phivolcs
The state volcanology agency PHIVOLCS records three volcanic earthquakes in Kanlaon Volcano during 24-hour observation period.
On Saturday (November 14, 2020), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology released the latest updates regarding Mount Kanlaon. The volcano reportedly generates three volcanic earthquakes.
Phivolcs said that the volcano emits Sulfur dioxide reaching an average of 42 tonnes per day last November 8, 2020. Slight inflation of the lower and mid slopes have been notice through GPS measurement since June 2020.
Kanlaon Volcano remains under Alert Level 1 for showing abnormalities and irregularities. The agency warned the local government units and the residents that entry into the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is strictly prohibited.
The entry into the Permanent Danger Zone due to the possible hazardous steam-driven or phreatic eruptions. The seismology agency also informed the civil aviation authorities to advice pilots to avoid flying close to the volcano’s summit.
