DFA Warns About Travel A Exemption Fee Scam Aimed At Foreigners
TRAVEL EXEMPTION FEE – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) warned foreigners about a “travel exemption fee” scam.
Currently, the Philippines has become strict with regards to international travel amid the coronavirus pandemic. As such, only a select few individuals who pass certain criteria are allowed within the country.
However, with many foreigners still wanting to go to the Philippines, scammers engaged in a scam tricking them into thinking they have a “travel exemption” for a price. Because of this, the DFA said entry restrictions in the Philippines are still in place.

“Foreign nationals should be guided by the latest advisory of the Bureau of Immigration as to who is allowed to enter the Philippines during the State of Public Health Emergency“, the DFA added.
Currently, only Filipino citizens, their spouses, and minor children are allowed inside the Philippines holding a tourist visa. Furthermore, restrictions allow foreign children with special needs of Filipinos, the foreign parent of minor Filipinos, and the foreign parent of Filipino children with special needs to enter the country.
Meanwhile, those allowed to enter are required to secure an entry visa from Philippine embassies or consulates, prior to their arrival. Along with this, foreigners with existing long-term visas and investors’ visas are also allowed entry.
