Filipinos like to celebrate Christmas for as long as possible. You can already hear Christmas carols is malls and stores as early as September. It is the most important holiday for them and their family is the heart of the celebration.
The parol is one of their Christmas traditions. It is a frame with a lighted star lantern on it. It is made of colored Japanese paper and bamboo strips. The parol is one of the most popular decorations in the Philippines.
The 2020 Christmas campaign of Disney UK highlights the Christmas celebration in the Philippines or the ‘Paskong Pinoy.’ The video was released on its Youtube Channel on November 8.
The 3-minute-long video revolves around a Mickey Mouse stuff toy that’s passed down between generations. It tells the heartwarming tale of a Filipino family.

A little girl received the Mickey Mouse stuffed toy and passes it on to her granddaughter. However, the young woman discards the toy because its now old and worn.
After realizing what she has done to her grandmother, she mends the toy and lit up her lola’s house with parols. The proceeds from the download of the song “Love is a Compass” by UK singer Griff within this year will go to Make-A-Wish foundation.
