They are dense with flora and fauna since they are basically a 10-square-kilometer patch which can contain as many as 1,500 flowering plants, 750 species of trees, 400 species of birds and 150 species of butterflies, according to NatGeo.
Types
Here are some of the types of rainforests, according to Conserve Energy Future:
- Tropical Rainforests
- known as the “jewels of the Earth” and he “world’s largest pharmacy,” they are located near the equator between the Tropic of Cancer at the north and the Tropic of Capricorn in the south of the equator.
- Temperate Rainforests
- these make up about one-quarter of the world’s forests in a temperate region. They are moist that grow mountain ranges, usually along western coasts, where high precipitation occurs due to westerly winds.
