Rabiya Mateo shared that she felt this during the MUP 2020 pageant
Rabiya is still trying to digest the fact that she won a national beauty pageant title. Last January, she won Miss Iloilo, then in October she was named as the Miss Universe Philippines and sooner or later she will represent the country in the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world.
Talking to Philstar’s Ricky Lo, Rabiya shared that the attention she is getting now overwhelms her. After winning the crown, her popularity skyrocketed and this is simply overwhelming for her.
“The day after the pageant, while walking in the lobby I was surprised that people already recognized me, asking for a selfie with me. What a big change! Just the day before, I was a nobody and the next day, well…” the Ilongga beauty queen shared.
Rabiya Mateo also shared that she was not expecting that she will win until her name was called. However, she revealed that there was something that she felt during the coronation night.
“There was some kind of a negative energy but I shook it off. Pauline (Amelinckx), who represented Bohol, who was sitting beside me, kept on tickling me, ‘You won, you won!’ I didn’t believe her. My mind was blank,” the Ilongga beauty queen revealed.
Despite that “negative energy”, Rabiya just focused on her goal and shrugged the negativity. She just let her determination to overpower that. “I’m a risk-taker. I’m like my favorite animal, the Tiger, hahaha!!!” she added.
