The pageant world in the country celebrated after Miss Iloilo was crowned as the new queen who will represent the Philippines in the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world.
However, her success brought out an unexpected controversy as some people questioned her credibility to win. Amid the issue being thrown to her, Rabiya remained composed as she was defending herself. Her family and friends, and fellow pageant contestants were ready to rally behind her back.
The controversy did not deny the fact that Rabiya Mateo is now a star in the pageant world. Her popularity skyrocketed and old and new fans have been expressing support for her on social media.
Based on the article from the Philippine Entertainment Portal, the beauty queen from Iloilo City even received a generous gift from a fan. In her appreciation post after her momentous crowning moment, Rabiya thanked the people who in one way or the other helped her reached her dream.
This received a comment from a netizen who revealed that she has a new phone. The newly-crowned MUP confirmed this. “Hahaha. Natatawa ako. Pero yes may cellphone napo na bago. Thank you sa fan na nagbigay,” she said.
Rabiya’s mentor talent manager Rabie Ian Pogoy revealed in a Facebook post showing that the beauty queen really had a humble beginning. Rabie showed a screenshot of their conversation as Rabiya was talking about her defective phone.
“Among the challenges, you encountered when your phone got busted. Also, you had difficulty to take photos because low quality yung nakukuha from your phone,” the mentor of the MUP 2020 revealed.
