93-year-old Grandpa Tutors Grandchild Despite Old Age Illness Goes Viral
A 93-year-old grandpa still tutors his grandchild for its self-learning module despite poor eyesight and hearing earn praise online.
A video and photo of a grandfather reading a module and teaching his grandson have caught the attention and gained admiration recently on social media. The grandfather was identified as Bonifacio Santolaja, 93 years old, and living in Brgy. San Pablo, Tacurong City.

Although he already uses hearing aids and sometimes magnifying glass, especially when the letters are small, the grandfather still teaches his grandchildren in their modules.
Her daughter Marlette Cocjin, who also posted a video and photo on social media, said even before COVID-19 arrived in the country, she said that her father was very helpful, especially in the studies of his grandchildren.

She said he did not want his grandchildren to go through the hardships he went through when he was still studying. He calls his grandchildren one by one, especially on weekends to ask the subjects that they are having a hard time.
He allegedly sent them here to their house and then taught them. It is said that education is very important for their father so this is how he persevered to teach his grandchildren and even their children also persevered to graduate because of their grandfather.
According to Tatay Boning, he does not always teach his grandchildren. When they can, he says he just lets them study but when they are having little difficulty he is ready to help them.
He said that he can still read and write and his age and situation are not an obstacle to teaching his grandchildren. He only advises young people today to avoid focusing on gadgets which will cause their eyes to break when the time comes.
As for his kids, they said they were very lucky and blessed that they had parents like this. It is said that what they learned from their parents, especially from Tatay Boning, they will do the same to their children and future grandchildren.
