Pres. Duterte Says He Now Has the Fund To Buy COVID-19 Vaccine In Case It’s Available Already
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed that he already found the fund to buy COVID-19 vaccine once it is available.
One of the countries hit by the COVID-19 pandemic is the Philippines. Community quarantine measures are still up in the country now in the efforts to curb the spread of the disease.
According to the Department of Health, as of this writing, they have logged a total of 346,536 cases of COVID-19 in the country. It includes 6,449 deaths and 293,860 recoveries.
As part of the fight against COVID-19’s spread, the wearing of a face mask when going outdoors became a protocol. Also, the practice of social distancing is a must.

Currently, the Philippines awaits for the availability of a COVID-19 vaccine. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, at least 9 pharmaceutical firms in the United States and in Europe are now in their late-stage trials.
Aside from those pharmaceuticals, China and Russia are also developing vaccines. According to the report, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said that he already has a fund now to be used for the purchase of the COVID-19 vaccine once it is available.
However, citing the 113 million Filipinos, the President said that he needs to find more money. Based on the report, he wants everyone to be vaccinated from the coronavirus disease.
“To me, ideally, all should have the vaccine without exception. Ang mauna, mga mahirap. Mga walang pera, ‘di makabayad. Tayo, kaming mga civilians, pwede tayo [last],” the President said.
