Brightlight Productions partners with TV5 and Kapamilya stars
Albee Benitez, the man behind the Brightlight productions, revealed why his company and TV5 chose Kapamilya stars for their new projects.
Benitez, who is a former congressman in Negros Occidental, is not new in the entertainment industry as he already co-produced several movies in the past. His company, along with the Kapatid network opened new doors for the talents from ABS-CBN.
Philstar entertainment columnist Ricky Lo asked Benitez why they preferred stars from the Kapamilya network. The producer said it is because of the shutting down of the media giant after its franchise application was denied.
“One of Brightlight’s objectives is to give work to displaced ABS-CBN stars,” Benitez said. On the part of TV5, as they cling to their name “Kapatid” network, it is opening its arms widely to talents who became jobless due to the denied franchise of the Kapamilya network.
In a previous report, the Brightlight Productions owner stressed that network war should end because it is not healthy for the industry. He was asked if he will also offer a project for his close friends Gabby Concepcion, who is under the Kapuso network, and Albert Martinez.
“If they are okay, if they are free, then why not? Then, again, there’s the issue of baka hindi payagan. It’s not beneficial to the viewing public, is it? We would welcome stars from GMA to work with us…kung papayagan,” Benitez said.
The former lawmaker also denied that he used “palakasan” factor to Mr. M or Johnny Manihan to get his service even after he retired.
“It’s not really because of me, it’s more of his (Mr. M’s) belief that priority should be given to the stars. You know, kung may trabaho, bakit mo pipigilan, bakit hindi mo kukunin, di ba? Ever since, Mr. M has been looking out for his talents. His priority is the welfare of his talents,” the owner of Brightlight Productions said.
