Albee Benitez shared a piece of his mind regarding network war
Former Negros Occidental congressman Albee Benitez, who is now TV5’s big-time blocktimer, said that network war should stop.
Network war has been a normal scenario in the media industry in the Philippines. Due to exclusive contracts, stars of a TV network can’t accept projects from other networks unless a permission was given.

However, due to this common set-up, Benitez said that this is not healthy for the industry, as well as for the artist. In a recent interview with Philstar’s Ricky Lo, the owner of the Brightlight Productions said that network war is just hindering the growth of the talent.

“For instance, some stars would wait years before they are given projects. What happens is that tatalian mo ng exclusive contract and then make them wait and wait for a project. That’s not fair! They could have done projects for other channels or other producers,” he pointed out.

Albee Benitez also said that the public will benefit from this also as they are looking forward to watching their favorites stars onscreen. He added that the norm should be “pwedeng maghiraman” as he believes that this will create a healthy environment in the industry.
On the other hand, the former congressman anticipated that eliminating the network war is not that easy because networks are possessive of their stars with exclusive contracts.
“Hindi talaga mawawala ang competition and, again, I would say that it is healthy for the industry,” Albee Benitez said.
