Senator Bato Dela Rosa Wants To Investigate Facebook For Deleting Pro-Government Pages

BATO WANTS TO INVESTIGATE FACEBOOK – Senator Ronald Dela Rosa filed a resolution asking for help from his fellow lawmakers to investigate social media giant – Facebook.

Recently, Facebook deleted over 150 pages linked whose origins could be traced back to China. Furthermore, Facebook’s cybersecurity division had already explained the reason for the shutdown was “coordinated inauthentic behavior”.

Meanwhile, Dela Rosa viewed this as censoring. According to the Senator, Facebook may be violating Filipino’s freedom of speech. As such, the Senator and former PNP chief filed Senate Resolution No. 531. which urges the Senate to conduct a probe on Facebook.

Moreover, Dela Rosa said that among the 57 accounts, 31 pages and 21 Instagram profiles that the social media platform took down were those that were “supportive of President Rodrigo Duterte”.
