30 Chinese Nationals Arrested for Violating Social Distancing Inside KTV Room
Around 30 Chinese nationals were arrested after they were found having a party and violating social distancing rules at a KTV bar in Makati.
According to the report of GMA News, authorities arrested thirty Chinese nationals who were found having a birthday celebration inside a KTV Bar and Restaurant in Makati City on Friday night, September 25.
One video shows a Chinese national try to argue with barangay officials without wearing a face mask and only covering his mouth and nose with the palm of his hand.
According to the foreigners, they did not know that they had violated the health and safety protocols in Makati. They said they were just having fun because of the birthday blowout. They also do not drink any alcoholic drinks.
Chinese nationals were brought to the precinct but also returned to the establishment because there was no place for them to be detained. According to Makati City Police chief Oscar Jacildo, the Chinese nationals reasoned that they were “bored” so they go out.
The violation ticket was just issued to the Chinese with a fine of one thousand pesos each for the first violation of the social distancing rule. Their IDs have been confiscated and can only be returned to them once they have paid the fine.
“Bago ko tikitan po, tinatanong ko muna anong violation po, social distancing. Wala [talagang space] kasi kung social distance po dapat meron pong mga ano po plastic, ‘yung ano po,” Ronald Borbon, of the Makati Public Safety Department, said.
The manager of KTV Bar and Restaurant declined to give a statement. The establishment may be temporarily closed or permanently stop their operation, depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
