Ukrainian Military Plane Crashed Along Highway Killing 22 Passengers
UKRAINIAN MILITARY PLANE CRASHED – A horrific accident transpired Friday night after a military transport plane carrying air force cadets crash-landed.
According to an article from the New York Times, the plane crashed and burst into flames causing the death of 22 passengers. Furthermore, the aircraft crash-landed near a highway in northeaster Ukraine.
Authorities identified the aircraft as the Antonov An-26 aircraft. Along with this, the accident happened amid a training exercise, the military said. Currently, investigations are on going to figure out the cause of the crash.
As per the article, one pilot from the military plane reported a failure in the plain’s left engine. However, Oleksiy Kucher, the governor of the Kharkiv region said this wouldn’t be a critical situation for a professional pilot.
Meanwhile, some of the passengers managed to jump off the plane as it flew in low altitude. Additionally, witnesses near the crash site said he saw a man running in flames from the plane after it crash-landed.
Additionally, reports from the military revealed that here were 27 aboard the plane. The cadets were from the Kharkiv University of Air Force which is operated by Ukraine’s defense ministry.
