Baguio City To Accept Region I Tourists On September 22

BAGUIO CITY – The city of Baguio said that it will accept tourists from neighboring provinces of Region I starting September 22.

According to a report from ABS-CBN, Residents of Ilocos region who wish to visit the well-known Summer Capital of the Philippines should register online and show proof of a hotel reservation, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

The city is known as the Summer Capital of the Philippines due to its very cool weather.

“Beginning Sept. 22, our city of Baguio will be open para sa mga bisita galing sa Region 1,”

“You can come and enjoy the city of Pines,”

The city Mayor Benjamin Magalong. who is also tasked to contact tracing his vicinity, said earlier that the local government would use the VIS.I.T.A app or the Visitors Information and Tourist Assistance app. This is so that they can manage the arrival of tourists.

Magalong added that they will be working closely with the Department of Tourism and the private sector, which also includes tour operators om order to control and manage visiting tourists, based on the report.

Tourists are also urged to be required to undergo either a swab test or antigen test.

Meanwhile, in a different report in the said city, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Archie Gamboa denied claims that he had a concert party.

Gamboa said, however, that he did had a dinner party with PNP officials, clarifying that they observed social distancing and health protocols.

This was confirmed by the city’s Police director Col. Allen Co who also said that Gamboa’s group arrived in the city for a supposedly Testimonial Parade for a retiring police official.
