Palace Says They Don’t Expect Anything Positive From VP Robredo
PALACE TO ROBREDO – Once again, issues between the OVP and the admin have taken place, this time, regarding the COVID-19 response.
Recently, Vice President Leni Robredo criticized the government for not having a cohesive plan against COVID-19. Naturally, Harry Roque who gave the government an 85% grade on the subject did not take this statement lightly.

She’s entitled to her opinion. Of course, as the leader of the opposition, we don’t expect anything positive about this administration from her...
Furthermore, he emphasized that even with all the negative comments toward the administration, Roque was confident that the people would still support President Duterte.
The issue started during a televised interview with the Vice President. There, she explained why she had not joined the calls for Health Secretary Harry Roque’s removal from his post. As per the article, she said:
Iyong problema natin is so much bigger than Secretary Duque. Para sa akin, iyong problema talaga iyong national government, na parang walang sistema… parang walang cohesive na plano
Currently, the Philippines has had the longest and strictest lockdown in the entire world. However, despite the strict protocols, it still holds the most number of COVID-19 cases in South East Asia.
During the lockdown period, experts have suggested conducting intensive mass testing and contact tracing for COVID-19 positive patients. However, this was not the case during the early days of COVID-19 in the country. But, after 7 months into the lockdown, the government announced hiring 50,000 contact tracers as part of its COVID-19 response.
